Setting the tone for new arrivals.
The North Terminal at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is the gateway to Alaska for international travelers, and as such, it required a design that would create a friendly atmosphere as well as help orient arriving and departing passengers to gates, ticket counters, and baggage areas.
The finished terminal, 276,000 sf, also contained customs and immigration processing, duty-free shops, concessions and building maintenance. Renovations were done to airside and landside, including gates, concessions, security, baggage systems, ticket counters, and offices.
The new, streamlined exterior used the materials of flight, aluminum and glass, to create a simple backdrop for the bustling terminal.
