A new prototype for healthcare delivery.
The Small Village Clinic Prototype is an extension of the Denali Commission’s mission to provide quality health care facilities in all Alaskan communities.
The clinic has a highly efficient building envelope and mechanical/electrical systems to minimize operating costs. Additionally, a special effort was made to analyze and integrate renewable energy options into the prototype, including solar thermal, solar electric, wind generation and wood boiler heating options.
A unique cost and design selection tool was created for this project to guide early clinic selections based on first cost and operating cost so critical decisions on sustainability were made early in the process.
